Skills & Knowledge

 

  • The ideal candidate has a bachelor's or master's degree in a technology related field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Software, etc.) or has gained equivalent workexperience
  • 7 years of experience in multiple IT areas of which 5 in NW/NWSEC
  • Preferably able to prove an active experience in the following areas:
  • MPLS technology (IGP/LDP/MP-BGP, L2VPN, L3VPN)

Luminus is on a journey to become a more data-driven organization. Over the past three years, we have made significant investments in AI, BI, and data governance to enhance our capabilities. With the emergence of GenAI, Luminus has initiated a corporate program to drive innovation, productivity, and strategic AI integration across operations and decision-making.Our IT department plays a key role in this transformation by supporting a robust Data Platform that powers classical BI, advanced ML, and integration use cases. We are also adopting a "data product" approach to standardize data management and drive business adoption.At Luminus, we operate in an agile environment and are structured within a Release Train to foster efficient collaboration and delivery. As part of a major transformation, our DNA team is growing, with the addition of business-focused scrum teams and two core Data Platform teams.In this context, we are seeking a Scrum Master to guide and support the core Data Platform teams, ensuring agile practices are followed and delivery is efficient, qualitative and aligned with business objectives.

 

The Scrum Master is a servant leader and coach and an IT leading role in the Data&Analytics (DNA) Release Train, together with the Product Owner.The mission of the Scrum Master is to drive Scrum teams to become high-performing, self-organizing teams that deliver quality IT solutions and meet their goals. The Scrum Master fosters collaboration with other teams, manages inter-team dependencies and ensures the smooth delivery of IT initiatives. Your daily job

Meeting PI Objectives

  • You take ownership to ensure the scrum team’s progress towards team goals. You help the team focus on daily and Sprint Goals in the context of current Program Increment (PI) Objectives, making sure the team can deliver its backlog. (Note: this might include safe guarding specific project milestones that fall within PI)
  • You drive the team delivery by proactively resolving any blockers, ensuring the team stays focused on achieving the Sprint objectives.
  • You guard the quality of delivery – He/She ensures that the Scrum team consistently adheres and meets quality standards (Definition of Done - DoD) before software is shipped to production and guarantees that increments are of the highest quality and aligned with business and technical requirements. Additionally, the Scrum Master supports teams in embedding continuous testing, integration, and validation to uphold delivery excellence across the Agile
  • Release Train (ART).

Managing scrum team collaboration within a bigger Release Train environment

  • You help prepare the PI planning and breakouts in collaboration with the PO and the program team
  • You protect and communicate –You help protect the team from uncontrolled expansion of work and communicates with management and outside stakeholders on this. In particular, for any additional or unexpected work not planned upfront, the scrum master requests the PO for feature/us creation and re-prioritization
  • You facilitate inter-team collaboration at the release train level and represents the team in the Scrum of Scrums (or similar cross-team forums).

Solution Architect

The Solution Architect is responsible for converting business requirements and solution architecture into a pragmatic, affordable, and future-proof solution design, adhering to architectural principles and security policies. They are able to quantify the designed solution into a feasible workload. He/She keeps in mind solutions that are future proof while not being overcomplicated. He/she can make the distinction between a prototype/poc and a final solution. The solution architect still has a hands on experience with development, certainly in a POC/investigation phase. When creating a solution architecture he/she looks into other domains for lessons learned and technologies used. He/she is able to determine which business request needs to be solved in which tool and technology with as much re-use as possible.

 

The IT Optimisation & Generation team drives the Optimisation & Generation (excl. OT) application development and maintenance (adhering to Agile principles and practices), ensuring operational excellence in Optimisation & Generation technology stack and driving its ongoing evolution. The team(s) support a wide variety of applications, both on prem as well as SaaS. The OptiGen technology stack is supporting the (Mid Term & Short Term) Optimisation teams to perform all wholesale market transactions, balancing services and hedging operations of Luminus. Furthermore they help connecting Luminus to the national grid operators.

Preparing PI Objectives

Operational Service Delivery Manager OptiGen

The Operation service delivery manager oversees together with the incident coordinator the RUN part of the OptiGen vertical. The mission of the OSDM is to follow up all applications that are running in SaaS mode. Without a dedicated team he/she follows up the partnerships and sees that change requests are picked up by the SaaS application in time. Furthermore the OSDM oversees all running applications and infrastructure of the vertical. He/She works together with the incident coordinator on a planning for lifecycle management (applicative and infra) as well as the follow up of DRP plans. He/She works together with the infrastructure team as well as the different vendors and devops teams.

 

While there are 2 roles, the OSDM as well as the Incident manager both are backup of each other and work together and the difference in name is only to show the primary focus.

The OSDM role needs to gain knowledge of the applications as well as the infrastructure of the domain on a steady pace so that he/she can be part of a 24/7 rotating on call system (dispatching to partners) 

Optimization & Generation Department

The ‘OptiGen’ release train provides application Transformation, Build and Run activities to the Power/Gas Optimization and Generation business departments within Luminus. We manage a vast number of applications, ranging from cloud-native custom build applications to SaaS solutions.

 

Your daily tasks

 

LCM

  • You take ownership to ensure all servers are up to date and plans with the different stakeholders (vendors, devops, …) to schedule updates

  • You follow up the SLA’s of said third parties/partners
  • The OSDM follows up change requests with the partners and their timefull delivery
  • You communicate with internal stakeholders on timings for upgrade, deliveries, change needs or testing with the internal users (stakeholders)
  • Given that many tools require a Luminus account; you do the off and onboarding of (temporary / 247) accounts for the partners and are spoc for them in terms of needs

Support/incident/24 on 7

  • You gain a knowledge of the application landscape and are able to delegate new/open tickets to the specific teams together with the incident coordinator. In case of applications in scope of the “operations” part you sees what you can solve/answer directly and forward to the service contractor else
  • You have preferably technical knowledge and are able to read, gather logs and intervene on server level (start/stop processes, test connectivity, …)
  • You will be part of a 24/7  (responsible on call) duty where you might investigate issues and sync to the correct other party.

IAM First Line Agent

In the first phase, your responsibility as an Identity and Access Management (IAM) First Line Agent is to handle identity operations, ensuring the correct access is granted to employees, external staff, suppliers, and partners. IT Service Management integration :

  • IAM User Support: You provide first-line support for identity and access management issues, including password resets, account unlocks, and access requests.
  • Service request fulfillement: You process access requests and ensure appropriate permissions are granted in accordance with company policies.
  • Incident Management: You assist in the identification, investigation, and resolution of IAM-related incidents.
  • Documentation: You maintain and update documentation, including policies, procedures, and user guides.
  • Collaboration: You work closely with IT, security, and compliance teams to ensure cohesive and comprehensive IAM processes.

  • You have demonstrated expertise in Python development, specifically for data science and machine learning.
  • You possess broad knowledge of machine learning frameworks, such as Scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyOD, and Darts, enabling effective implementation of diverse ML solutions.
  • You have strong DevOps experience, including Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Docker containers, ensuring smooth deployment and maintenance of data-driven solutions.
  • Having experience building multi-agent Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) systems is a plus.

Data Analyst

The generation department of Luminus plays a critical role in Belgium's energy landscape, with a production capacity of 2135MW. Ensuring the uptime and high performance of our power plants hinges on the quality and accessibility of our data. As we continue to expand our data-driven initiatives, we are strengthening our Generation Data Science team. This transversal team supports both thermal and wind domain experts, working closely with those on the plant floor: maintenance engineers, performance engineers, and operators. We seek a Senior Data Analyst who is passionate about data governance and has a deep understanding of how data can be transformed into actionable insights that drive operational excellence. 

 

Your daily job

  • Data Governance Champion: You ensure data quality, consistency, and accessibility across the generation department. You develop and implement data governance policies, standards, and processes.
  • Data Steward: You function as a liaison between IT, engineers, operators, and data scientists. You advocate for data quality and accuracy.
  • Data Understanding: You develop a deep understanding of the meaning and context of our operational data. You translate complex technical data into understandable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: You work closely with engineers and operators on the ground to identify their data needs, gather feedback, and ensure that data solutions align with real-world operational challenges.
  • Data Visualization & Analysis: You leverage your expertise in SQL, data visualization tools (like Qlik), and data modeling techniques to create insightful reports and dashboards. You uncover trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.

 

Your Profile

  • You have a strong desire to immerse yourself in the intricacies of electricity production and the unique challenges it presents.
  • You are strongly committed to data quality, integrity, and governance principles.
  • You bring over 5 years of proven experience in data analysis, preferably in an industrial or operational setting.
  • You possess advanced proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating data.
  • You are skilled in using data visualization tools to create clear and impactful reports and dashboards (experience with Qlik is a plus).
  • You are familiar with data modeling techniques to structure and organize data effectively.
  • You can explain complex concepts to anyone in English and French/Dutch.
