Solution Architect

The Solution Architect is responsible for converting business requirements and solution architecture into a pragmatic, affordable, and future-proof solution design, adhering to architectural principles and security policies. They are able to quantify the designed solution into a feasible workload. He/She keeps in mind solutions that are future proof while not being overcomplicated. He/she can make the distinction between a prototype/poc and a final solution. The solution architect still has a hands on experience with development, certainly in a POC/investigation phase. When creating a solution architecture he/she looks into other domains for lessons learned and technologies used. He/she is able to determine which business request needs to be solved in which tool and technology with as much re-use as possible.

 

The IT Optimisation & Generation team drives the Optimisation & Generation (excl. OT) application development and maintenance (adhering to Agile principles and practices), ensuring operational excellence in Optimisation & Generation technology stack and driving its ongoing evolution. The team(s) support a wide variety of applications, both on prem as well as SaaS. The OptiGen technology stack is supporting the (Mid Term & Short Term) Optimisation teams to perform all wholesale market transactions, balancing services and hedging operations of Luminus. Furthermore they help connecting Luminus to the national grid operators.

 

 

Your daily job

 

Preparing PI Objectives

  • You collaborate closely with the Solution Designer to ensure the solution design adheres to the overall solution architecture. 
  • You support the Solution Architect and the Business Engagement Team during intake.
  • You are able to, within a SAF context work with the team within the PI commitments but also prepare the necessary epics and features for intake in the upcoming PI(s)
  • You provide estimations on work to be developed
  • You create the architectural vision for a solution and document it

Follow and support the development

  • You are accountable for creating, documenting, and communicating the solution architecture.
  • You follow up on the fit between the solution architecture and the functional analyses and designs
  • You guide the developers in terms of best practices and follow up on technical and security governance.
  • You ensure the solution design adheres to solution principles, IT & security policies, standards, guidelines, and best practices. 
  • You participate in project delivery and release train build activities as part of an Agile team. 
  • You test the Sync/lead integration and validate together with the analysts, external technical contacts and scrum master(s)
  • You participate in project delivery and release train build activities as part of an Agile team

Stay on top after delivery

  • You document the final setup including differences between design and implementation
  • You do a handover to the operational people where needed

 

 

Your profile

 

  • Ideally, you hold a master degree in exact sciences (preferably in IT) or have attained comparable level through relevant experience 
  • You have In-depth knowledge of the energy market in Belgium (as this is a key domain within the electrical sector). 
  • You have strong analytical & architectural skills, effective communication, and a collaborative spirit.
  • You have experience in .NET and AWS as technical stack (architectural and prototyping)
  • You have experience with UML to explain and visualize (data) flows
  • As part of the work scope is driven by external actors you have experience in both stakeholder management as well as in reading (legal) requirement documents.
  • You are fluent in English; Dutch and/or French is a plus

Solution Designer

The IT Supporting Services team drives the Supporting Services application development and maintenance  (adhering to Agile principles and practices), ensuring operational excellence in Supporting Services technology stack and driving its ongoing evolution. The Supporting Services technology stack is the backbone for the processes of Finance & HR.

 

The SAP FICO Solution Designer is the subject matter expert in SAP FICO and is accountable for capturing and converting the business requirements into a pragmatic solution design (MVP if required) and an appropriate solution configuration within SAP, based on the E2E solution architecture. Is able to quantify the designed solution into a feasible workload.

 

 

Your daily job

 

  • You collaborate closely with the Solution Architect to ensure the solution design adheres to the overall solution architecture
  • You support the Solution architect and the Business Engagement Team during intake
  • You evaluate the feasibility of the different solutions always keeping in mind the affordability, fit-for-purpose and value for money
  • You are responsible of supporting the Technical team in their technical solution design
  • You are accountable within SAP FICO as the subject matter expert of the solutions and has a good understanding on the E2E processes
  • You provide expert advice within SAP FICO / MM and advise stakeholders on how to best align business processes and solutions
  • You estimate the effort and time required for solution design, configuration, implementation and unit/integration testing
  • You are accountable for delivering the solution configuration, implementation and testing within the agreed timeline and budget
  • You are responsible to ensure the solution design, configuration and implementation adheres to the solution principles, IT & security policies and standards, guidelines and best practices
  • You document the solution design, configuration and implementation
  • You do regular knowledge transfer of solution specifics and changes towards the team
  • You provide the necessary input in case there are dependencies with other changes

Your profile 

 

  • Ideally, you hold a master degree in exact sciences (preferably in IT) or have attained comparable level through relevant experience
  • You have a proven track record of working on successful functional solution designs and their implementation;
  • You can prove in-depth knowledge of the SAP FICO module
  • You have some background in other main SAP ECC or S/4 HANA modules (at least MM) and sufficient general technical knowledge to steer and support a developer.
  • You can also prove the following soft skills :
  • You have strong listening, communication, facilitation, influencing and analytical skills.
  • You are able to understand Business needs (users) & test accordingly
  • You are improvement and learning oriented for expanding his scope within and besides the SAP part
  • You are willing to invest on the long term on SAP
  • You are autonomous and also a strong team worker

Your daily job

 

As a Solution Designer, you become part of an Agile team where you add value in 3 different ways:

 

Delivery & release train build activities:

  • You are accountable for estimating the effort and time required for solution design, configuration, implementation and unit/integration testing
  • You are accountable & responsible for creating, documenting & communicating the solution design
  • You are responsible to ensure the solution design adheres to the solution principles, IT & security policies and standards, guidelines and best practices
  • You evaluate the feasibility of the different solutions always keeping in mind the affordability, fit-for-purpose and value for money
  • You are accountable for the solution quality control by reviewing and approval of solution documentation, configuration, implementation and testing
  • You provide the necessary input in case there are dependencies with other changes
  • You understand the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) drivers and contribute to keep their evolution under control

Operations:

  • You identify & propose improvements to the solution design of the existing landscape
  • You are able to provide guidance to operational support
  • You are accountable within your domain as the subject matter expert of the solutions and have a good understanding on the E2E processes
  • You support the solution lifecycle

Collaboration:

  • You collaborate closely with the Solution Architect to ensure the solution design adheres to the overall solution architecture
  • You support the Solution Architect and the Business Engagement team during intake
  • You provide expert advice within your domain and advise stakeholders on how to best align business processes and solutions
  • You organize regular knowledge transfer of solution specifics and changes towards the team
  • You coach other Solution Designers/Engineers/Developpers within your domain where needed
  • You are responsible for supporting the technical team in their technical analysis and design

 

 

Your profile

 

  • You hold a master's or bachelor's degree in exact sciences (preferably in IT) or possess equivalent experience.
  • You have a proven track record of designing and implementing successful functional solutions.
  • You have worked for at least 3 years in a solution designer role.
  • You can read, understand, and critically evaluate solution architectures and the underlying business requirements.
  • You apply functional analysis and design thinking to create solutions that align with business needs and architectural frameworks.
  • You leverage reusability to develop the most effective solution designs.
  • You are fluent in expressing ideas through data models, state diagrams, sequence diagrams, and other artifacts, as well as in clear, natural language (English).
  • You can discuss and explain solution designs to both technical (e.g., developers) and non-technical (e.g., product owners) stakeholders.
  • You have a good understanding of MACH architecture principles.
  • You understand the technologies, key properties, limitations, and design patterns used in building solutions, including Cloud deployments, DevOps, and databases (both NoSQL and SQL). Experience with Azure Cloud is a plus.
  • You have basic experience with the following languages and frameworks: React (Native), NextJS, NestJS, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
  • You are proficient in using UML to elaborate on solution design documentation.
  • You can understand data architecture within your domain.
  • You have strong listening, facilitation, influencing and analytical skills.
  • You have strong communication skills towards the business & IT counterparts
  • You are able to understand and discuss Business needs (users), facilitating pragmatic & affordable solutions
  • You are able to work autonomously while being a team player in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • You have good collaboration/interaction skills to optimize the flow between design & development
  • You are eager to work in the core business of Digital and be part of a significant transformation journey to shape the future IT landscape
