Lead Solution Architect

IT, Data & Digital

Join our team as a Solution Architect!

Use your ICT expertise and leadership to shape the future of energy.

At Luminus, the ICT department drives the energy transition by enhancing cybersecurity, data intelligence, and network infrastructures. Our mission is to build smarter, sustainable energy systems that support our customers and colleagues in reducing CO2 emissions and boosting energy efficiency. As a Solution Architect, you will play a senior role in making this vision a reality within the OptiGen team, focusing on Generation and B2B optimisation platforms. This team supports applications for wind asset management, contract renewals, sales trading, ETRM (Energy Trading and Risk Management), and integration with national grid operators.

Your daily job

As a Solution Architect at Luminus, you are a strategic thinker and an enabler of scalable, maintainable, and affordable IT solutions. Your main responsibilities are structured around four key pillars:

1. Architectural Leadership

  • Define solution architectures that balance long-term vision with practical implementation.
  • Evaluate existing systems and design improvements that integrate seamlessly with our landscape.
  • Ensure solutions are future-proof, affordable, well-documented, and aligned with enterprise architecture.

2. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a bridge between business and IT, translating needs into robust technical solutions.
  • Coach other architects and analysts, raising architectural and analytical maturity across the team.
  • Lead through influence rather than authority, aligning cross-functional teams around common goals.

3. Delivery & Governance

  • Own the delivery of architectural solutions: from PI preparation to deployment and lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with internal governance, security, and quality standards.
  • Represent architecture in the architectural review board, defending your decisions clearly and effectively.

4. Strategic Integration

  • Align architectural decisions with business processes using frameworks such as BPMN and TOGAF.
  • Promote reuse of existing tools and integration over reinvention.
  • Support citizen development and guide teams in their low-code initiatives.
  • This is a role for someone who combines conceptual thinking with hands-on understanding, and who can simplify complexity without losing technical depth.

What you'll do

  • Prepare PI Objectives from an architectural point and collaborate with Solution Designers in a SAFe Agile environment.
  • Estimate workloads, define architecture visions, and translate them into actionable epics and features.
  • Analyze and align business requirements with the most fitting technical tools from our ecosystem.
  • Guide scrum teams and developers while ensuring architectural, security, and quality compliance.
  • Coordinate integration testing and oversee end-to-end delivery, including documentation and handover.
  • Participate actively in the architectural review board where you defend the architectures from the domain and look for synergies over the domain.
  • Link architecture to business process flows using BPMN and other standards.
  • Mentor colleagues and raise the overall architecture capability of the OptiGen team.

What you bring

  • A master’s degree in IT or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 6 years as a Solution Architect.
  • At least 4 years of experience in the energy sector.
  • Hands-on knowledge of .NET and AWS, including architecture and prototyping.
  • Experience with LeanIX and defending solutions in architectural governance forums.
  • Strong grasp of BPMN notation and understanding of TOGAF.
  • Proficiency in UML to visualize system architecture and data flows.
  • A track record in stakeholder engagement and translating legal/compliance requirements into design.
  • Fluent communication in English (Dutch/French is a plus).
  • A mindset that values collaboration, clarity, and pragmatic excellence.

You lead by example, bring order to complexity, and enable others to grow. You balance ambition with realism and drive quality without getting lost in perfectionism.

We strongly encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply. Diverse teams drive the innovation we believe in. We’re not just looking for an expert — we’re looking for a communicator, a simplifier, and a team player with strategic impact.

Why join us?

  • You will contribute to Luminus' most critical platforms for Generation, b2b Sales, and Optimisation.
  • You’ll work on architecture that supports both on-prem and SaaS environments.
  • You’ll collaborate with architects, analysts, and traders in building solutions that are both effective and compliant.
  • You’ll shape not just systems, but how people work together around those systems.
  • You will actively mentor and raise architectural maturity in your team.
  • You work with flexibility: home-office, satellite hubs, and schedules that suit your life. (just the teamday is on Thursday)
  • You become part of a warm and professional team with different seniority levels and backgrounds.
